1. Clean by the deadline. Owners of vacant sites within GBA limits must remove all waste, garbage, and debris on or before 15 August 2026. The waste must be disposed of only at the designated disposal locations notified by the Municipal Corporation. Owners may also use agencies notified by the corporation to do the cleaning.
2. Or the corporation cleans it and charges you. If owners fail to clean their sites by 15 August 2026, the Municipal Corporation will remove the waste and debris itself, and recover the expenditure from the owner along with their property tax - under bye-law 18(1)(d)(ii) of the SWM Bye-laws, 2020 and Section 285(2) of the Greater Bengaluru Administration Act, 2024.

What owners are responsible for

The cleaning charges by plot size

For a site larger than the sizes listed, the notice says the expenditure recovered will be proportionate to the site area. In short, the bigger and more neglected the plot, the more it costs - and it lands on your property tax bill.
